Templar Skills

Templar Skills
The Templar is a unique follower because he remains in melee range and offers heals, something neither of the other two do. So, when selecting Templar skills, make sure you choose the skills that most accurately reflect the needs of your particular character – from healing to defense to offensive output. Here is a rundown of all the Templar Skills you’ll have access to and when you can select them.
Templar Skills by Level
Level 5
Heal – Very simple and very useful – this skill will heal you or your Templar for 2030 Life at Level 60. The cooldown mitigates it to some degree but for classes with no healing, this is a must.
Intervene – Will tank enemies for 5 seconds whenever you are below 50% health by using a taunt. The 30 second cooldown can make this less effective, more of a bubble than a protective spell. But, if you don’t need Heal, it’s pretty useful.
Level 10
Intimidate – Enemies are slowed by 50% for 3 seconds whenever they hit the Templar. Combined with Intervene, you can extend the effects of the Templar’s intervention by 3 seconds.
Loyalty – A life regeneration spell that gives you and the Templar 50/second with no duration.
Level 15
Charge – Attacks a target with 150% weapon damage and a stun for all enemies in 15 yards for 3 seconds. Very useful for opening battle if you’re ranged or far away as a Monk or WD.
Onslaught – One really big hit – 200% weapon damage plus 120-162 physical damage.
Level 20
Guardian – If you or a party member gets low on health, the Templar will charge the nearest enemies for 300% weapon damage and a stun over 5 seconds. This also results in a heal to the wounded party member for up to 1624 Life with a 15 second regen of 59 life to boot. Some very serious help in this spell.
Inspire – Increases resource regeneration for mana, Arcane Power, Hatred, Discipline, Fury and Spirit to all party members.
The Best Templar Skills for Your Needs
So, which Templar Skills do you want added to your build? There are a lot of options here so you should select the ones that offer the best return in combat. For most players, the heals are enough, but don’t neglect things like Inspire for increased regeneration or the crowd control – Intimidate plus Intervene can keep enemies busy for up to 8 seconds while you heal or back up.
