Templar Equipment
In Diablo III, the followers are not given a whole lot of options in terms of their equipment. In fact, Templar equipment is, for the most part, automatically upgraded as you level. The only slots you can actually change are the Amulet, Ring, Shield and One Handed Weapon slots. There is also a fourth slot for Templar Relics that provide you with some powerful bonuses for you follower and character.
Templar Equipment – Jewelry
In the jewelry slots, you can equip both amulets and rings that will provide key stat bonuses to your follower and your character (depending on the stat you select). For the most part, these stat bonuses are designed to provide things like increases to speed, agility and precision as well as other fun skills like Magic Find. The Blizzard database has yet to be fully updated with stats so we don’t know yet what these will hold for your Follower, but be sure to check back on your Templar equipment slots often to see if any upgrades are available.
Templar Equipment – Shields and Weapons
The Templar is the only follower to get an off hand slot – in this case the shield. Make sure to choose the best shield you can for your Templar to max out defense and keep them in the fight longer. Templars are the most likely followers to die in combat and while the death isn’t permanent, it can be a real blow in a big fight to lose one of your key defensive and healing backups.
As for weapons, you can carry any of the universal one handed weapons including axes, daggers, swords, spears and maces. Check the Blizzard database for more information about each of these items.
Templar Equipment – Relics
Like the other two followers, there are ten relics currently in the Templar equipment database on battle.net. These relics are designed to give your Templar more power to heal and defend you in battle. They include things like books, blade or spear fragments, tears, and chalices – holy relics that hold in them power beyond what you can imagine.
Make sure you check your Templar equipment slots often and keep them up to date at all times. Out of date or poorly maintained equipment slots on your Templar can result in reduced efficiency in battle.
